Stormcloud was a young dragon, apparently male, ridden by Prince Aegon Targaryen, son of Rhaenyra, during the Dance of the Dragons.
History
In the year 129, when the Dance of the Dragons broke out, Stormcloud was a young dragon, never before ridden by Prince Aegon, son of Rhaenyra.
At the first meeting of the Black Council, which supports Rhaenyra's claims, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen does not count Stormcloud among the dragons ready to fight.
In the last days of the year, the Prince of Peyredragon Jacaerys Velaryon sends his brothers Aegon and Viserys to Pentos to stay with their father's friends, to keep them away from the fighting.
Stormcloud accompanies them aboard the cogue Fol Abandon. Lord Corlys Velaryon has them escorted by seven warships from his fleet.
Sailing in the Gosier, the Fol Abandon and its escort are intercepted by a powerful fleet, sent by the Triarchy, allied to the pretender Aegon II Targaryen.
The Velaryon ships are sunk or captured, the Forsaken is also boarded. The young Aegon, then nine years old, manages to escape on his dragon, desperately clinging to its neck.
Pierced with many arrows, a scorpion's slash through his neck, Stormcloud managed to bring him safely back to Peyredragon, where Aegon informed his mother's followers of the new threat from the east. Hissing, hot, black blood spurting from his wounds, Stormcloud dies less than an hour later.
Aegon becomes king as Aegon III, but never again does he fly a dragon.
